These Chinese sure like gardens!!! Not your typical farming gardens.....but landscaped gardens that combine living quarters with ponds surrounded by roofed walkways and pavilions, and decorated with trees, flowers and rocks. In other words....there are scenes behind scenes, and gardens within gardens. Most of these gardens are now considered World Cultural Heritage sites.
Originally known as the Fisherman's Retreat, this particular garden provides the illusion that it is full of change (landscapes). The classical Chinese garden setting is supposed to provide an atmosphere of peace and calm. I personally liked the giant dragon (and tail) that encompassed the entire wall surrounding the garden!
