Our river boat has no cruise ship luxuries to keep us entertained - no theater or casino or swimming pool. Even the TV in our cabin is borderline depressing....it has 30 channels....but only one of them is in English (CNN). So a few of us in our group sat down and tried to entertain ourselves each night on the cruise. We had a deck of cards....let the fun begin!
It wasn't until Day 3 on the cruise that we learned how to play Mahjongg. This Chinese tile game is played with four people around a table. Each player starts with thirteen tiles (+1 for the dealer) and you attempt to be the first player to get 4 sets of runs and/or matching tiles and one pair. I have played a Mahjongg video game before....but nothing like this! A little strategy. A little luck. A lot of fun!
*** Jenesa would like me to mention the fact that she won 3 out of the 5 games our group played. I would like to mention that Jenesa could not remember any of the tile symbols....and I had to help her identify at least a dozen pieces throughout those games. Good job, Jenesa!
